A DAY IN THE
TULSA GLOBAL DISTRICT
On Monday, February 19, 2024, the 7th grade class of TSAS went on a field trip to the Tulsa Global District located at 21st and Garnett. This field trip was planned so that we could help support the Tulsa Global District and its community advertise their businesses. Planning the field trip was a very big learning experience. We did a lot of research to plan where we would go. It included working together most of the time, but the work was worth it. It was very fun to visit the Tulsa Global District and be able to explore. Here are some photos and videos we took and our thoughts of the places we visited. We hope this inspires you to visit the Tulsa Global District!
El lunes 19 de febrero, 2024, la clase de séptimo grado de TSAS realizó una excursión al Distrito Global de Tulsa ubicado en 21 y Garnett. Esta excursión se planeó para que pudiéramos ayudar a apoyar al Distrito Global de Tulsa y su comunidad a publicitar sus negocios. Planificar la excursión fue una experiencia de aprendizaje muy grande. Investigamos mucho para planificar adónde iríamos. Stop 1: Nam Hai

The first place we went to was Nam Hai, where everyone met up. We were excited and nervous to be starting this adventure. We waited and made sure everyone was there. It was a nice place. I really liked the outside decor. It looked super big and I wish we could have gone inside, it had a ton of groceries you can choose from that you can see through the windows. If we had gone inside we would have looked through some candies!

Stop 2: Pho Nhi

The next place we visited was a restaurant called Pho Nhi, to eat lunch. It was located right next to Nam Hai, so it was a very easy walk.
Pho Nhi is an excellent restaurant that makes great food. They have pho, sandwiches, noodles, rice, and (my personal favorite), boba tea. We had a great time trying all of the different types of food!
There was a huge mural covering the back wall, which was very cool and one of my favorite parts. The decorations in the whole place were great and made the place so nice. You should definitely check it out if you get the chance, we all loved it and rated it 5/5 stars!
El siguiente lugar que visitamos fue un restaurante llamado Pho Nhi, para almorzar. Estaba ubicado justo al lado de Nam Hai, por lo que fue un paseo muy fácil.
Pho Nhi es un excelente restaurante que prepara excelente comida. Tienen pho, sándwiches, fideos, arroz y (mi favorito personal), té de boba. ¡Nos lo pasamos genial probando todos los diferentes tipos de comida!
Había un mural enorme que cubría la pared del fondo, lo cual era genial y una de mis partes favoritas. Las decoraciones en todo el lugar fueron geniales e hicieron que el lugar fuera muy agradable. Definitivamente deberías echarle un vistazo si tienes la oportunidad, ¡a todos nos encantó y lo calificamos con 5/5 estrellas!
Stop 3: Plaza Santa Cecilia

After we went to Pho Nhi, we walked across Garnett Ave to Plaza Santa Cecilia, and on the way there we saw all different kinds of businesses like gas stations, food places, and clothing stores. Once we got to Plaza Santa Cecilia there was a nice car outside, and we saw a dog next to a big tire shaped like Mickey Mouse. The smell outside was a very good smell. You could smell lots of different things like tacos and also trees. There were pretty leaves. The leaves were orange and yellow but the color and the shape of the leaves made them so pretty. I definitely recommend it.
Después de ir a Pho Nhi, cruzamos Garnett Ave hasta la Plaza Santa Cecilia, y en el camino vimos todo tipo de negocios, como gasolineras, lugares de comida y tiendas de ropa. Una vez que llegamos a la Plaza Santa Cecilia había un lindo auto afuera y vimos un perro al lado de una llanta grande con forma de Mickey Mouse. El olor afuera era muy bueno. Se podían oler muchas cosas diferentes, como tacos y también árboles. Había hojas bonitas. Las hojas eran anaranjadas y amarillas, pero el color y la forma de las hojas las hacían muy bonitas. Definitivamente lo recomiendo.
Stop 4: Indoor Mall

After we went to Plaza Santa Cecilia we went inside to the Indoor Mall. It is a place where you can find small businesses and food courts to shop and get some food. Some of the small businesses have jewelry and clothes like quinceañera dresses, hats, and shirts. The jewelry was colorful and they were medium sized. They had earrings, necklaces, keychains shaped like dolls and shoes were also colorful and like a beige color. They also had porcelain dolls in glass cases, the dolls were small and had dresses on. They also had party supplies and bags. There was one shop we all liked. That shop is called La Bikina. They sell jewelry, shoes, clothes, and dolls.
Después de ir a la Plaza Santa Cecilia, entramos al Indoor Mall. Es un lugar donde puedes encontrar pequeños negocios y patios de comidas para comprar y conseguir algo de comida. Algunos de los pequeños negocios tienen joyas y ropa como vestidos, sombreros y camisas de quinceañera. Las joyas eran coloridas y de tamaño mediano. Tenían aretes, collares, llaveros con forma de muñecos y zapatos también coloridos y como de color beige. También tenían muñecas de porcelana en vitrinas, las muñecas eran pequeñas y tenían vestidos. También tenían artículos y bolsas para fiestas. Había una tienda que nos gustaba a todos. Esa tienda se llama La Bikina. Venden joyas, zapatos, ropa y muñecas.
Stop 5: La Michoacana #2

The next place we went to was La Michoacana #2, an ice cream store. They sell different kinds of ice cream, popsicles and chips. The ice cream was so good, they had a bunch of different flavors, so they had something everyone would like! Their chips were also perfect , they added stuff to their chips like nacho cheese sour cream and pork rind which all went really well together. There popsicles were so pretty and tasted good too!
La Michoacana #2 had really nice people. They made sure we got what we wanted and had a really nice attitude. It felt like they liked what they did so the environment was amazing. My favorite part was all the decorations! They were decorated for valentines day and it was super cute. You could also read everything on the menu which is really nice. Overall, La Michoacana #2 was an awesome place to go. I definitely recommend it!
El siguiente lugar al que fuimos fue La Michoacana #2, una heladería. Venden diferentes tipos de helados, paletas y patatas fritas. El helado era tan bueno que tenía muchos sabores diferentes, ¡así que tenían algo que a todos les gustaría! Sus patatas fritas también eran perfectas, les agregaron cosas como crema agria de queso nacho y chicharrón, que combinaron muy bien. ¡Las paletas heladas eran tan bonitas y sabían muy bien también!
La Michoacana #2 tenía gente realmente agradable. Se aseguraron de que obtuviéramos lo que queríamos y tuvieran una actitud realmente agradable. Parecía que les gustaba lo que hacían, por lo que el ambiente era increíble. ¡Mi parte favorita fueron todas las decoraciones! Estaban decorados para el día de San Valentín y quedó súper lindo. También puedes leer todo lo que hay en el menú, lo cual es realmente bueno. En general, La Michoacana #2 fue un lugar increíble para ir. ¡Definitivamente lo recomiendo!
Stop 6: McCullough Park

Our final stop was McCullough Park. McCullough Park is a place in The Global District where almost anyone can have fun. If you’re a kid you can have fun on the playground provided, if you’re an adult you can sit and have a picnic here at McCullough Park. We went down the slide and just chilled until we got picked up.
Nuestra última parada fue McCullough Park. McCullough Park es un lugar en The Global District donde casi cualquiera puede divertirse. Si eres un niño, puedes divertirte en el área de juegos disponible; si eres un adulto, puedes sentarte y hacer un picnic aquí en McCullough Park. Stop 1: Doña Gloria Food Truck

After meeting at Nam Hai we went to Dona Glorias. Dona Glorias is a restaurant. It was pretty good if I do say so myself. The food was so good it was cooked great. Me and Jordan ordered a steak burrito. I don't usually like sour cream but there was a perfect amount so it was good. I would recommend it to my family. We like how quick they were.
Después de reunirnos en Nam Hai fuimos a Doña Glorias. Doña Glorias es un restaurante. Fue bastante bueno si lo digo yo mismo. La comida era tan buena que estaba muy bien preparada. Jordan y yo pedimos un burrito de carne. Normalmente no me gusta la crema agria, pero había una cantidad perfecta, así que estaba buena. Se lo recomendaría a mi familia. Nos gusta lo rápidos que fueron.
Stop 2: Mural

After lunch, we went to see the mural. This mural was painted by VNICEWORLD. The mural had a girl with flowers and fruits around her and she’s holding a fruit and there’s a flower she’s wearing. We talked about how the fruits were mostly found in South America, which symbolizes connection to home culture. It also had the word “Herencia” at the top, which means “heritage”. What I liked about it was how beautiful it was.
Después del almuerzo fuimos a ver el mural. Este mural fue pintado por VNICEWORLD. El mural tenía una niña con flores y frutas a su alrededor y sostenía una fruta y llevaba una flor. Hablamos de cómo las frutas se encontraban principalmente en América del Sur, lo que simboliza la conexión con la cultura natal. También tenía en la parte superior la palabra “Herencia”, que significa “patrimonio”. Lo que me gustó fue lo hermoso que era.
Stop 3: El Bazaar

Next is El Bazaar is a huge indoor market with multiple kinds of things such as clothes, dresses, appliances, flowers and even piñatas. They even have their own indoor currency exchange station. There are multiple registers because there are multiple tiny shops in the building. There are also a lot of hallways in the building.
El siguiente es El Bazaar, un enorme mercado interior con múltiples tipos de cosas como ropa, vestidos, electrodomésticos, flores e incluso piñatas. Incluso tienen su propia estación de cambio de divisas interior. Hay varios registros porque hay varias tiendas pequeñas en el edificio. También hay muchos pasillos en el edificio.
Stop 4: Nam Hai

The next place we visited was Nam Hai. Nam Hai is an Asian Grocery store founded in the 1980s by two Vietnamese refugees five years after they arrived in America. You’d have to see the store in person to truly revel in the culture and importance of Nam Hai. Nam Hai originally just sold produce and such from East Asia but as of 2013 they started selling stuff from all places. At Nam Hai they sell spices, produce and cooking supplies you wouldn’t see in your everyday store. Another reason this store is important is that it has the supplies to make food you may not be able to find easily so you’d have to make it yourself. Overall The Global District has so many great things and Nam Hai is just one of them. Not only does Nam Hai have cultural significance, it's also just a really cool place anyone can visit. I personally think our team had a fantastic time looking at all the cool and interesting things most of us don’t see on a daily basis. Nam Hai truly is a sign to behold.

Nam Hai es una tienda de comestibles asiática fundada en la década de 1980 por dos refugiados vietnamitas cinco años después de su llegada a Estados Unidos. Tendrías que ver la tienda en persona para deleitarte verdaderamente con la cultura y la importancia de Nam Hai. Originalmente, Nam Hai solo vendía productos agrícolas y similares del este de Asia, pero a partir de 2013 comenzaron a vender productos de todos los lugares. En Nam Hai venden especias, productos agrícolas y suministros de cocina que no verías en tu tienda habitual. En general, el Distrito Global tiene muchas cosas maravillosas y Nam Hai es solo una de ellas. Nam Hai no sólo tiene un significado cultural, sino que también es un lugar realmente genial que cualquiera puede visitar. Personalmente, creo que nuestro equipo se lo pasó genial observando todas las cosas interesantes e interesantes que la mayoría de nosotros no vemos a diario. Stop 5: Neveria La Tapatia

Then after Nam Hai we visited Neveria La Tapatia. At Neveria La Tapatia they sell popsicles, ice cream, and cold drinks perfect for hotter days! Others got stuff like lemonade, paletas, and something that was kinda like a parfait. I got a two scoop waffle cone for $5.00 flat, which I say is pretty cheap for me. We enjoyed our visit and would recommend it to everyone.
Despues de Nam Hai visitamos Neveria La Tapatía. ¡En Neveria La Tapatía venden paletas heladas, helados y bebidas frías perfectas para los días más calurosos! Otros comieron cosas como limonada, paletas y algo parecido a un parfait. Compré un cono de gofre de dos bolas por $ 5,00 fijos, lo que digo que es bastante barato para mí. Disfrutamos nuestra visita y se la recomendaríamos a todo el mundo.
Stop 6: McCullough Park

We went to McCullough Park after Neveria La Tapatia. We just walked around for a bit and it was fun. There was a skate park and playground. The playground was cool, it had 2 slides.
